Macdonald Leeming House - Penrith

Excellent, could not recommend them highly enough. The service was wonderful. The food was just incredible. And the location is fantastic. 5 stars all around.

the hotel setting was very picturesque the staff were overall very welcoming nothing was a problem to them , very polite the food was excellent and well presented overall an enjoyable stay

Wifi is not in the rooms as advertised and is only in the lounge area provided by btopenzone so their charges apply. Paid for an upgraded room however discovered shower did not work properly and although I did complain to reception on day of departure giving reception 30 mind to discuss with management before I checked out what they would do I had […] to hang around to speak to management myself to sort any refund of upgrade out. Not what I expected when I had shown a video I'd taken of the shower to show how bad it was.. Staff are lovely. Dinner service was slow on Friday due to a coach party. Saturday night coach party guests up and about with kids screaming outside at 7am on Sunday morning may not be to everyone's taste. If you are looking for a beautiful and tranquil location to stay in this is definitely it. If you're looking for something to do other than walking or going for a drive then this is not the hotel for you. Average age of residents was about 65. 詳情

advert was misleading and charged for internet service which we didnt have. manager tried to charge for a telephone call he made 40 minutes for £120 which was very poor and very discourteous

The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. The room had some defects- the old sash windows wouldn't stay open or lock, when this was combined with the radiators being on full in July it meant the room was way too hot. It was a nice big room and bathroom with pleasant views.

My partner and I booked into the hotel on 16th Dec 2011 and were due to stay for two nights. We checked out a day early and spent our second night at The Inn On the Lake - despite having already paid for both nights at Leeming House. The hotel is in a nice location and staff were polite. It was the little things which let the place down - a handle missing […] from a drawer, an expired light bulb and stains on the toilet lid. Also the window would not lock and we were on the ground floor. We purchased breakfast, which was very expensive for a small portion of dry baked beans, over cooked bacon and tepid tea. We changed to the other hotel which was much better. I would not go to Leeming House again - but will go back to The Inn on The Lake. 詳情

The hotel was very pretty and the views spectacular. We did enjoy our stay even tho it was for one night only. We would go back again. Our only gripe is that the cold water tap in our room was hot and the hot tap was boiling!!

Situated just a short distance from the M6, on the lake edge in lovely grounds. The breakfasts were tasteful but the highlight was the evening dinner, which was delicious. The one moan I have is that we had to pay for a Wi-Fi connection, which for a hotel which is by no means cheap was a cheek!

The bed, always important in a hotel, was one of the most comfortable we have slept in. The bathroom was spotless, brightly lit and modern. Waiting staff in the restaurant couldn't have been any more helpful and, very importantly, friendly - all too often hotel staff appear in pain when doing their job! Attention to detail was also commendable - we […] were staying for a significant birthday and a card was left in the bedroom wishing all the best from the staff of the hotel. Views down to Lake Ullswater were fabulous. If one had to find faults then they would be only minor - as befits many buildings of its age, the interior would benefit from a lick of paint in parts and the floorboards on the first floor could do with being reset to stop them creaking like a heaving ship in a storm when anyone walks across them. Also the bar where we sat before dinner felt more like a cupboard than a 'bar' and would benefit from a user-friendly makeover; perhaps with old photographs of the area etc. on the walls. 詳情
