Highly recommended. We have stayed at 7 different Miami South Beach hotels and have encountered the worn edges that are characteristic of many of those that have not been restored. The Essex has been restored - honoring its art deco past … walk through the door where Al Capone played cards, Miami Vice was filmed, and where thousands of soldiers stayed […] during WW II. The warmth and thoughtfulness of the staff were most remarkable and made the trip the most memorable. We had stayed at the Essex ten years ago and mentioned our prior visit in our reservation - we were greeted with a handwritten welcome back note. Due to storm delay we called to let them know we would be late. We arrived to an upgraded room - which, along with the included breakfast and walks on the beach one block away, made this an unforgettable experience. Park next door in the garage and ask the parking office about their hotel rates; ask for the beach towels at the front desk; get a copy of the local papers to the right of the front desk to check out the local events (you will be one block from the beach - ten minute walk to Lincoln road - a few minutes from Espanola Way restaurants.) If you have a choice the suite with Jacuzzi tub, windows framed by palm trees, conveniences of the refrigerator etc. is worth it. The Essex will become our hotel of choice for our future visits to Miami throughout the year. 詳情

When I first time entered the room, I feel very humidified. But the location, service and the pool are really good.

Everything was great. Comfortable, perfect location, didn't notice the noise. Even got free drinks and sushi during happy hour! Only complaint was waking up stuffed up from the air conditioning, but there's probably not much they could have done.

This hotel is very nice and is in a great location. They make you feel like your at home and are very attentive to your needs. The suites are large and the happy hour is a great perk.

This hotel is in a great location with a very short walk to the beach and restaurants on Ocean Drive. There is a lot of local shopping very close to the hotel. We booked this hotel on hotels.com for a great rate. We were a little apprehensive after staying at their sister hotel the Clevelander in the past. Upon our arrival we were immediately treated […] extremely well. Our previous reservations were immediately erased. We were greeted by Kim and the Manager Annette. Kim and Annette were very welcoming and even upgraded us to a suite. The room I stayed in was on the ground level (E-1). The room was decorated nicely and was very large. the bathroom and the jacuzzi tub were inviting and very clean. We were surprised by the happy hour which served endless bottles of Presidente, Heineken, red & white wine. They also serve a great sushi that is offered from the japanese restaurant named Zensai. This restaurant is located in the lobby. Bella the hospitality host during the happy hour was very friendly and extremely friendly. All the employees we encountered at the hotel were extremely professional and very attentive to our needs. There is a small quiet pool at the hotel. The sister hotel the Clevelander is a great party spot but I wouldn't recommend it to stay. Overall we were very impressed with our stay at the Essex House and would recommend to all! 詳情

You cannot beat the location of this hotel. It's proximity to the beach, restaurants and nightlife is amazing. The rooms were small, but comfortable and clean. My only concern was that they seem to be extremely understaffed. At night it was difficult to get anyone to answer the phone or assist us with a few issues. Unfortunately, I became ill during […] the trip and had to stay in on a Saturday night. My boyfriend tried to find someone to give us hot water for tea and it took several tries and several requests to get someone to accommodate. I don't think that this was because the individual at the front desk was unhelpful, I think he was just simply overwhelmed. Overall, the stay was great and I would visit again. Lovely decor. Relatively quiet for busy South Beach. Kind and professional staff. Nice, clean room. Bathroom a bit small but convinient. Only breakfast was a bit of a disappointment: not on the healthy side (little options outside industrial pastries) and most days food and cutlery would run out pretty soon (with food not being replenished and cutlery/dishes […] taking some time...). A very good hotel cheaper than those in the neighbourhood. Located about 2 minutes from the beach, close to dozen of restaurants and also next to the Big Bus stop. They have a very good Japanese restaurant that I can only recommend. I will stay again.

i stay in hotels 80% of my life and this is the worst customer service i have ever had. it's a very typical Miami hotel where the lobby is very nice and the rooms are just OK. the only good part about the hotel is it's close proximity to the beach and the good restaurant attached. other than that it's garbage. The Essex House had me concerned before I booked because of some of the reviews, but my stay was great! Right in the heart of all the action, Essex House was perfect. While staying, we noticed the pool was little small but you have complete access to The sister hotel next door, The Clevelander, which has amazing amenities and even a tanning area on […] the roof where you can relax and even get a free welcome piña colada! The service we received was up to par with what you would expect from any hotel customer service. The rooms were clean and we were brought fresh towels daily. The Essex was fantastic. We stayed here on a Tuesday and Wednesday in March 2013. The location was central to South Beach and we easily walked to all our destinations. It was a bit noisy but not as bad as it could have been considering it was Spring Break for many schools. It was in a great location with almost everything within walking distance. Service was good and the staff was very friendly, yet I had to wait almost 45 minutes to have the valet bring my car.

Was very impressed with the suite room that I was given...the hotel staff was extremely friendly. A great value and close to the party area...but not too close (it was quiet). Plus, they had a free happy hour every night for 1 hour!!!

I called for several days before I could even get someone at the front desk to make a change to my reservation. Each call resulted in about 20 minutes on hold with either to be hung up on or told to call back, no one could help me. The agent I finally reached told me she noted the change in the reservation, however when I went to check in the guy that […] helped me said he had no record of the change, that I forfeited my reservation and that I had to pay a second time. Complete nonsense. If you want to be assured a headache and loads of frustration, go to this highly understaffed hotel. 詳情

Location of hotel is great, Beach is 5 min walk with Cafes / Bars etc . Only spent 2 nightsbut comfortable room - air con slightly noisy. Parking an issue, staff will tell you vallet parking is best as not much local parking but they dont do half day rates so we paid $58 for 1.5 days. I loved being close to the Art Deco center for the Walking Tour, just a block away. A bit noisy at night but not bad. The room was beautiful, but it waas promised to be a King Size bed and pull out sofa. Since I was traveling with my adult son, it was important to have the extra bed, which was NOT there. We booked a 2 night stay at the Essex House Hotel and we weren't disappointed with the location or facilities. It was easy to find and there was valet parking when we arrived. The staff at reception were friendly and informative, suggesting local tours and making us feel welcome. Our room was close to reception but was quiet and overlooked a little […] courtyard. It was one street over from Ocean Drive so the bars, restaurants and beach were all close by and walkable. Lincoln Road is a must for shopping and is only a few blocks walk. The hotel in general is well mantained and has an excellent location. However, I got room 115 and was extremely noisy. I could hear the conversation of everybody in the hallway and the guests in the room next door. The service door for employees was right next to my room, and started to be opened and closed at 8 in the morning and every five minutes […] since then. The staff was welcoming, courteous, friendly and very helpful. The location was perfect! One very short block away from great restaurants, entertainment and the beach! Close to shopping areas. I enjoyed the Art Deco decor. Staying at the Essex House also entitled me to access to the Clevelander roof top decks and pools. Will definitely go back.
