The room we stayed in was horrible! Extremely noisy. It was near a street so all night we could hear the traffic and the garbage trucks because of the one pane windows. When I first walked into the lobby, I loved the look of the hotel. The interior brick walls are very unique. Our room was small with no windows to the outside. I'm sure this was converted to a hotel from some other type of building - again the walls were brick with wood floors. I'd already paid for the hotel through hotels.com, but they have a mandatory $9.98 (for wifi, gym, etc) and a $50 credit card hold. Hotel Ambassador was a fantastic choice. I was on the fence about going with a boutique hotel that didn't have a large brand name, but I couldn't be happier with the Ambassador. The cold water handle on the bathroom sink did not work. Requested service on it three times before it was finally dealt with. Package was sent to the hotel to my attention. I read so many reviews about this place, some negative and some positive. I found this hotel to be exactly as it states, convenient to local activities and a combination of the new and the old. Yes it does have a fee for parking, and a convenience fee, but both of those charges are clearly stated...I had half off parking, and the wifi and quick breakfast […] was important for me to pay the extra (insignificant) amount. I got such a great deal through hotels.com that neither fee made much difference in the price.. The parking attendant paid special attention to what ever we needed, the concierge was helpful, and the front desk clerks were incredible accommodating.They upgraded our room for free as the room we reserved was no longer available. The staff was very accommodating, the room was nice with hardwood floors and exposed brick, the ac worked fantastically, the bathroom was spacious and clean. Only the carpets in the hallway looked worn (hence the 4/5 rating on condition), but it really didn't bother me. Location was great! Though the location of this hotel is very good, there were also some pit-falls. The sheets were the most awful, scratchy bedding I've had to sleep on in a long time. The bed was on wheels on a hardwood floor, so we would end up across the room with little effort. Stayed here in lieu of overpriced convention hotels. Service and breakfast were not great but the room was fine and clean. Noise was acceptable for big city. Buy beignets elsewhere. I would definitely stay here again.

My stay at the Ambassador was quite pleasant. I had originally planned to stay down the street at historic hotel where I have stayed before, but funds were tight and so cancelled that one and re-booked here at about half the cost. The lobby is not as grand, but for this trip all I wanted was a clean place to sleep and a quiet place to work ( neither […] which would have been possible if I had been at my graduates apt). The continental breakfast was welcomed from the overpriced restaurants and the location was perfect, next to higher starred hotels, at a fraction of the cost. The rooms are very small and a air conditioner broke outside of our window. So, we were woken up at 6am due to the noise. But, it was a reasonable price for what you get. Though, the mandatory $10 fee for internet/phone/breakfast is really annoying. Plus, just add it to your price.

It looks like very neat on the pictures but nothing had been renewed. Beds are terrible and very noisy. Wood hard floors are never vacuumed and not washed.The tiles in the bathroom were so old and broken, but at least clean. We were so upset. Never again

Our room was huge with two king beds, antique wood floors and a beautifully exposed brick wall. We both thought the place had so much character and charm. Small rooms, good location, decent service. Was charged for valet parking which we didn't use. They credited immediately but I did see this in another review so I would physically check out to avoid having to deal with this after the fact.

Needed a dbl bed room asked and was accommodated. The room we received was kinda tucked away with no view but great for really getting some sleep. The a/c worked really well froze us out of there. It needs alittle better linens especially for good a/c. Bring some blankets. Close to everything good pay to park and well maintained. Thumbs up.

My biggest issue was the 4pm check-in time. Plus, the 9.95 fee that is not optional but mandatory. I arrived for a one night stay early one morning. I was told I couldn't check in before 4pm. Furthermore, I had to pay a $9.95 fee for breakfast that began at 7:30 am... well, my flight departed the next morning at 6:30am. The building is one of the original structures in the area but with a modern twist. I like the wooden flooring in the room. The room was very clean and homely, I like the ceiling fan even though that AirCon work just fine. The carpet in the hallways show some wear and should be replace soon. The hotel have valet parking that cost quite a bit a night since their parking area is a block down the street. It would have been easier parking outside the downtown area and taking a taxi to the hotel just to drop off your luggage. The staff was always pleasant and very helpful.
